Week 28 – April 1, 2012 – April 7, 2012

Language Arts:
Nate continues to write many emails to his cousin, Makenna.  He is very conscious to spell the words he uses correctly.  He wrote a list of his summer plans complete with illustrations!  He did some Daily Grams.  He practices his spelling words with Spelling City.  He was able to access an additional feature this month which he is enjoying.  I think we will get a subscription to this in the fall.  He reads LOTS and continues to work his way through the Hardy Boys series.  He watched some DVDs including Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and Homeward Bound II.  He went to the library and picked out some more DVDs and books.
Math:
Lesson 22 – watched DVD and did the lessons.
Science:
Nate is working on recording mold.  It is amazing how fast mold grow!  He is doing an excellent job recording the mold spreading and the detailed look of the mold.
Social Studies:
Wow!  We covered a lot of information this week.  Nate learned about the American War of Independence and how it affected Canada, The Loyalists, Two Canada’s – Upper and Lower Canada.  He did mapwork to go along with this time period and coloured the original American flag with 13 stars and learned what original states these stars stood for.  Nate is reading an “I am Canada” series book called Blood and Iron about the building of the railway.  He is really enjoying it.
Other Stuff:
April Fools’ Day!  We had some great tries at fooling each other today!
Nate cleaned his room!
Nate enjoyed Wednesday with his dad!  He even got to stay overnight at the cabin.  His mom and sister went to Williams Lake and got Nate 2 western shirts!
iPad:
Nate really enjoys playing on his iPad.  He has some games that he really enjoys.  He also spends lots of time emailing his cousin, Makenna, in Abbotsford.  A great way to keep in touch!
PE:
Nate is able to ride his bike now!  He went to the gravel pit on his bike and nearly fell into a puddle!  He enjoyed digging in the gravel pit where there is NO SNOW!  He chases the pigs to get them back in the pen.  He feeds the cattle with his dad.  He continued to stack wood.  And his favourite PE this week activity – swimming lessons!  Claire is very pleased with his front crawl.  Nathan is swimming faster and recording a faster time on his long swim!  Congratulations, Nate!!!!  You are working very diligently at learning to swim!
