Week 32 – April 29 – May 5, 2012

Language Arts:
Nathan is almost finished I am Canada’s Blood and Iron about the building of the Canadian railway.  He did an awesome narration telling me all about the dangers of that time.  He watched some movies including Home on the Range, Stuart Little 2, Narnia, A Bear Named Winnie, and Love Begins.  He made a thank you card for his swimming teacher and gave her a Timmy’s gift card!  He practiced his spelling words on Spelling City.  He did some Daily Grams.
Math:
Nate finished lesson 27 and he learned about the area and circumference of a circle.
Science:
Nate enjoys watching MacGyver and seeing all the “inventions” he makes.  We started talking about our next unit – rocks!  He got out the books, lapbooks, and Considering God’s Creation information so we are ready to start our unit!
Social Studies:
Nate finished listening to The Map Maker:  The Story of David Thompson.  He really enjoyed learning about the Nor’Westers and the fur trade.  He learned about the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago.  He watched a little bit from the Pearl Harbour and enjoyed watching the planes.
Extra stuff:
Nate enjoyed visiting some homeschoolers this week!  He also got to stay home with his brother while I went to do some visits.
PE:
Nate is really enjoying his “new to him” bike with 21 speeds.  He rode it to the gravel pit with his siblings.  He enjoyed riding his scooter.  He stacked wood.  He is really enjoying flying his remote control airplane that takes photos and videos from the air!  Tooooooo coooooool!
iPad:
Nate is enjoying many apps including popping bubbles.  He showed one of the children and a dad that we visited how to use the iPad and some apps including checkers and X-Plane.
Music:
Nate got a new guitar!  He helped to string it left handed and then he tuned it.  He learned to play C and G7 chords and how to strum.  He is learning FAST!
